The Myth of the God Incarnate

Beyond the Rim

Summary here

The people of the Place know little and worry less about the people beyond the Rim. There has been only one successful invasion in many thousands of years of history - and that was very long ago. Everyone beyond the Rim is simply 'a barbarian'. In fact the lands beyond the Rim are open steppe for many days journey in every direction. Along the coast there is some settled land and a few fortified cities, but the interior is held by nomadic pastoral tribes, in a state of continual feud. Nevertheless, trade in luxuries is carried on, both overland and along the coast.
